The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) lauded one of its personnel at Bacolod-Silay Airport (BSA) for demonstrating exceptional honesty and integrity by returning a substantial amount of cash left behind by a departing passenger.
Security Screening Officer (SSO) Danilo Andrada Jr. is being recognized for promptly returning an envelope containing P43,000 in cash that a passenger had accidentally left at the Initial Security Screening Checkpoint on Saturday, November 16, 2025.
During a routine security screening for Manila-bound passengers (Cebu Pacific Flight 5J488), SSO Andrada noticed an unattended white envelope located underneath the x-ray machine. Following standard operating procedure, he immediately informed Checkpoint Supervisor Ginabelle John Bara.
Supervisor Bara swiftly initiated a public announcement via the airport’s paging system in an attempt to locate the owner. A few hours later, a male passenger contacted the OTS inquiring about the lost envelope and its contents. After a thorough verification of ownership, including the specific contents and amount, the P43,000 in cash was successfully returned to the grateful owner.
The passenger expressed profound thanks to SSO Andrada and the entire OTS team for their swift action, professionalism, and honesty in the recovery of his money.
This incident highlights the unwavering commitment of the OTS to uphold the highest standards of public service, integrity, and professionalism among its ranks.
“The rightful return of this large sum of cash underscores our agency’s continuous effort to maintain integrity and high regard for public service to all passengers,” an OTS spokesperson stated. “SSO Andrada’s action supports the call for greater transparency, honesty, and accountability within government agencies.”
The OTS remains committed to ensuring the safety, security, and integrity of the country’s transportation systems.
