DOT Sec. Frasco advocates for stronger public–public-private partnerships to boost Philippine tourism in 2026

The Department of Tourism (DOT) officially launched its 2026 tourism agenda with a resounding call for stronger public–private cooperation, as Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco addressed leaders of the Tourism Congress of the Philippines (TCP) during their 2025 Annual National Meeting on Tuesday (Nov. 25).

The crucial meeting, held at Lanson Place, Mall of Asia in Pasay City, gathered representatives from key sectors including accommodation, travel and tours, transport, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions), tourism estate development, academe, and government.

In her keynote address, Secretary Frasco stressed the necessity of a united front to achieve the country’s tourism goals.

“As I’ve always said from the very beginning, I reach out my hand of collaboration to all of you. Don’t hesitate to let me know how we can improve tourism in the Philippines. We’re here to work with you, and we’re here under the common aspiration and desire to see Philippine tourism elevate its rightful status in ASEAN and the world,” Secretary Frasco emphasized.

The Secretary reaffirmed that the DOT and the TCP share a common vision to strengthen competitiveness, widen economic opportunities, and ensure that tourism growth directly benefits workers, businesses, and communities across the nation.

“Since the beginning in 2022, the TCP has always been there—frank and honest with its insight, and always, always with a very clear aspiration and vision for Philippine tourism: that is, to elevate competitiveness, to ensure widespread economic opportunity for our fellow Filipinos, as well as to provide opportunities for our tourism stakeholders to benefit from the economic value of tourism,” Secretary Frasco shared.

She expressed gratitude for the TCP’s consistent and honest engagement, highlighting the deep alignment in their aspirations. The 2026 agenda is set to prioritize initiatives stemming from this fruitful collaboration to further enhance the Philippine tourism landscape on the global stage.
