In accordance with the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 (RA 9513), the Renewable Energy Trust Fund (RETF) was established to finance the research, development, and promotion of renewable energy systems.
This fund, bolstered by contributions from agencies such as PCSO, empowers the DOE to implement high-impact initiatives and integrate Artificial Intelligence to modernize the nation’s energy infrastructure and enhance self-sufficiency.
The DOE said the RETF supports priority initiatives that strengthen renewable energy development, including improved resource assessment, planning, and program implementation.
As part of its modernization efforts, the DOE is exploring data-driven tools, including AI-enabled analytics, to enhance the speed and consistency of technical assessments and decision support.
“This remittance strengthens the DOE’s ability to support renewable energy development through better planning, stronger analytics, and accountable program delivery,” Undersecretary Conquilla said.
“We will ensure the RETF is utilized transparently and strategically to advance energy security and long-term sustainability.” The DOE added that the RETF is managed in accordance with government accounting and auditing rules to ensure transparency and proper use of funds.
