As the final hours of 2025 draw to a close, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) extends its profound gratitude to the Filipino people, partner agencies, and transport workers. The agency credits “collective public cooperation” as the driving force behind a year of significant milestones in the nation’s journey toward a more modernized and inclusive transit system.
Throughout 2025, the DOTr successfully hit key benchmarks in railway expansion, airport upgrades, and the enhancement of active transport lanes. These achievements were not merely administrative successes but were made possible by the patience and participation of the commuting public.
The DOTr highlights three core pillars that defined its operations this year:
-
Convenience: The integration of unified ticketing systems and increased vehicle frequency across major routes.
-
Comfort: The rollout of modernized fleets and the rehabilitation of key transit hubs to better serve elderly, PWD, and student commuters.
-
Safety: The implementation of enhanced surveillance, stricter maritime safety protocols, and the expansion of protected bike lanes.
“Every project we inaugurated this year—from the smallest local port to our expansive railway networks—was built with a singular vision: to give Filipinos back their time and dignity,” the Department said in a statement. “We recognize that progress often comes with temporary inconveniences, and we are deeply grateful for the public’s trust and resilience. This was a year of building not just infrastructure, but a culture of better travel.”
In the spirit of the New Year, the DOTr is inviting the public to share their personal highlights from the year’s travel experiences. Whether it is a faster morning commute, a new bike path, or a seamless flight home for the holidays, the agency wants to hear from the “fellow riders” who use these systems daily.
“As we look toward 2026, we remain committed to our goal: a transportation system that is not just functional, but world-class. We move forward because we move together.”
