ACEN achieves 100% renewable generation

ACEN, the Ayala group’s listed energy platform, today announced a defining milestone in its corporate evolution: the company has officially achieved 100% renewable energy generation across its entire portfolio.

This accomplishment represents the culmination of a decade-long strategic pivot. In 2016, ACEN’s 1,000 MW portfolio was dominated by coal, with renewables accounting for a mere 2%. Today, the company has successfully exited fossil fuel generation, scaling its renewable capacity to over 7 gigawatts (GW) of attributable capacity across the Asia Pacific.

Driven by the urgency of the global climate crisis, ACEN redirected its capital and operational capabilities to phase out carbon-intensive assets. The company is now one of the fastest-growing clean energy platforms in the region, with the Philippines serving as its core market.

“This milestone reflects our long-term strategy to align ACEN with the future of the energy system, while supporting decarbonization in a commercially disciplined way,” said Eric Francia, President and CEO of ACEN.

ACEN’s transition is backed by a diversified geographic footprint and a robust mix of clean energy technologies. Beyond the Philippines, ACEN operates a wholly-owned platform in Australia, alongside significant operations and investments in Vietnam, India, Lao PDR, and Indonesia.

As of 2025, ACEN’s portfolio comprises a balanced mix of technologies essential for grid stability and decarbonization:

Technology Capacity (MW)
Solar 4,634 MW
Wind 1,957 MW
Battery Energy Storage (BESS) 304 MW
Geothermal 115 MW

While reaching 100% renewable generation is a foundational success, ACEN is now looking toward its next ambitious target: achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The company remains committed to a “just and inclusive” energy transition, ensuring that its growth supports local economic development and provides reliable, clean power to the communities it serves. By matching high-level ambition with rigorous execution, ACEN continues to demonstrate that a rapid shift to clean energy is both environmentally necessary and commercially viable.
