The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced that international travel to the Philippines reached a new milestone in 2025, with a total of 15.6 million passenger arrivals processed nationwide. These figures reflect a steady recovery and sustained growth in the country’s tourism and aviation sectors.
According to data released by BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, the year-end total for 2025 represents a 6% increase over the 14.7 million arrivals recorded in 2024. Of the total arrivals, 6.7 million were foreign nationals, signaling strong international interest in the Philippines as a primary destination for travel and investment.
Commissioner Viado attributed the successful management of increased passenger volume to the Bureau’s ongoing transition toward digital and automated solutions.
“We are aggressively modernizing our immigration processes to ensure faster, more secure, and more convenient services,” said Commissioner Viado. “By expanding automated systems, upgrading our port facilities, and strengthening our manpower, we are facilitating legitimate travel while supporting the national government’s economic and tourism objectives.”
The Bureau remains committed to aligning its operations with the government’s push for digitalization and efficient public service delivery. Key focus areas for the coming year include:
-
System Expansion: Continued rollout of e-gates and automated clearance systems at all major international gateways.
-
Security Vigilance: Enhancing screening protocols to combat transnational crimes and travel-related abuses.
-
Economic Support: Streamlining entry processes for tourists and investors to boost local industries.
“These reforms are essential to the evolution of our borders,” Viado added. “The BI will continue to balance the ease of travel with the critical mandate of national security.”
