BOC-Port of Manila strengthens ties with industry leaders to bolster trade efficiency

In a move to further streamline trade operations and fortify public-private synergy, District Collector Rizalino Jose C. Torralba of the Bureau of Customs – Port of Manila (BOC-POM) recently hosted a high-level coordination meeting with key representatives from Mars Philippines, Inc., KNE Logistics, and Asian Terminals, Inc. (ATI).

The courtesy visit served as a strategic forum for the stakeholders to align their operations with the Bureau’s ongoing modernization and facilitation efforts.

During the dialogue, industry leaders shared operational updates and addressed critical logistics and port-related concerns. The conversation centered on the necessity of seamless coordination to maintain supply chain fluidity. All parties underscored that efficiency must go hand-in-hand with:

  • Strict compliance with customs laws and regulations.

  • Operational transparency in every step of the process.

  • Adherence to established Bureau procedures to minimize delays.

District Collector Torralba, joined by Deputy Collectors Florante P. Ricarte and Atty. Gerard N. Turiano, and Formal Entry Division Chief William Herbert R. Baluyut, reaffirmed the Port’s dedication to supporting legitimate trade while maintaining its mandate of revenue protection.

“Open communication between the Bureau and our private sector partners is vital,” said District Collector Torralba. “By working together, we ensure that our ports remain competitive, efficient, and fully compliant with the highest standards of governance.”

The engagement concluded with a renewed pledge of cooperation, directly supporting the vision of Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno. These collaborative efforts are part of a broader push to transform the Bureau of Customs into a more service-oriented, transparent, and world-class administration.

Through these sustained partnerships, the BOC-POM continues to drive initiatives that balance robust enforcement with the ease of doing business in the Philippines.
