DOTr and SMC announce temporary lane closures on North EDSA for MRT-7 progress

The Department of Transportation (DOTr), in coordination with SMC Mass Rail Transit 7 Inc. (SMC7), wishes to inform the motoring public of upcoming temporary lane closures and traffic adjustments along North EDSA, specifically the segment between Landmark-Trinoma and the Unified Grand Central Station.

These adjustments are necessary to facilitate the Turnback Girder Launching Activity for the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) project, a critical milestone in enhancing the capital’s railway network.

To minimize daytime disruption, full road closures will be restricted to late-night and early-morning hours. However, certain lanes will remain closed 24/7 to accommodate support structures.

Northbound (Heading toward Balintawak)
  • Partial Closure: Two (2) lanes will be closed at all times from February 1, 2026, to May 8, 2026, for Tower Support No. 2.

  • Full Closure: The entire northbound section will be closed nightly from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM, starting February 11, 2026, through March 10, 2026.

Southbound (Heading toward Cubao)
  • Partial Closure: Two (2) lanes will be closed at all times from February 22, 2026, to May 18, 2026, for Tower Support No. 3.

  • Full Closure: The entire southbound section will be closed nightly from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM, starting March 11, 2026, through March 23, 2026.

The DOTr and SMC7 request the public’s patience and cooperation as these works are vital to delivering a more reliable and efficient commuting experience.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to:

  1. Plan trips ahead to avoid delays during the affected hours.

  2. Use alternative routes as indicated in the official traffic detour maps provided via DOTr social media channels.

  3. Follow onsite traffic signs and personnel directions for safety.

The MRT-7 project remains a top priority in the government’s mission to modernize the national public transport system and provide long-term relief to Filipino commuters.
