Digital fluency and AI literacy to define the future of Philippine logistics – FAST Logistics

As supply chains become increasingly automated and data-driven, FAST Logistics Group, the Philippines’ leading end-to-end logistics solutions provider, identifies digital fluency and AI literacy as the most critical competencies for the modern Filipino workforce.

While automation is transforming the industry, FAST emphasizes that the demand for skilled professionals is not slowing down; rather, it is evolving. The company highlights a growing need for “digitally confident” workers capable of navigating AI-enabled tools to manage the complexities of a disruption-prone global market.

As multinational corporations and MSMEs expand within the Philippine market, traditional logistics roles are shifting.

“Logistics professionals who understand how to work with AI, interpret data, and use digital platforms will be the ones driving efficiency, sustainability, and growth,” said Manuel L. Onrejas Jr., FAST CEO for Logistics. “AI is changing how we plan routes and forecast demand. Those who can navigate Warehouse and Transport Management Systems (WMS/TMS) while understanding AI’s limitations will always be in demand.”

FAST maintains that AI should be viewed as a tool for empowerment rather than a replacement for human talent. Digital fluency allows teams to:

  • Monitor operations in real-time for better delivery accuracy.

  • Optimize truck utilization and reduce “empty miles.”

  • Enhance safety through computer vision and automated sortation.

Despite the tech surge, the company underscores that foundational technical expertise—such as TESDA NCII certifications for forklift and warehouse operations—remains vital. To support its nationwide expansion, FAST is currently looking to hire thousands of warehouse personnel to meet rising customer requirements.

To bridge the skills gap, FAST is leveraging its Learning and Innovation Center in Laguna and an AI-powered Learning Management System (LMS). This ecosystem ensures that its workforce of over 13,000 Filipinos stays ahead of the curve.

“Technology sets the foundation, but leadership, collaboration, and emotional intelligence make logistics work in the real world,” Onrejas added.

FAST continues to set the gold standard for tech integration in the Philippines by deploying world-class systems, including:

  • Honeywell-powered WMS: Streamlining processes from storage to dispatch.

  • FarEye-powered TMS: Providing end-to-end visibility for a fleet of over 3,100 vehicles.

  • Computer Vision: Exploring advanced safety flagging and automated box counting.

By aligning its digital transformation with the needs of global multinational customers, FAST Logistics Group solidifies its position as the country’s most tech-driven employer of choice.
