Gothong rationalizes operation due to Middle East crisis

Gothong Southern, one of the leading shipping companies in the Philippines, said the recent global developments in the Middle East require adjustments in its operation along with other industry players.

The advisory posted by Southern Gothong online stated that industries worldwide, including logistics, are experiencing significant shifts that are affecting supply chains and transportation networks due to the recent global developments in the Middle East.

“Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and continuously reviewing our operations to ensure service continuity across our network,” the advisory stated.

Despite these developments, Gothong Southern said they remain committed to deliver fast, simple, and seamlessly reliable transport service that keep cargo moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

“We continue to strengthen our operations, optimize resources, and work closely with our partners to support the businesses, communities, and families that depend on us every day,” the statement added.

Shipping companies are slowly rationalizing their voyages following a directive by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) allowing domestic shipping companies and operators to consolidate their sea trips to save on fuel cost and conserve supply.

MARINA has also allowed shipping companies adjustments in fare and cargo rates subject to MARINA approval for the duration of the crisis only.

MARINA has also waived and granted discounts on some of its fees to shipping firms.
