The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has launched a formal fact-finding investigation following a report of missing funds from an Australian passenger at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
The passenger, who was scheduled for Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 565 bound for Cebu, reported the loss of Php 7,000.00 and NTD 1,000.00 (New Taiwan Dollars).
Upon receiving the report, the OTS immediately initiated protocols to validate the information. The agency is currently working in close coordination with:
-
New NAIA Infra Corp.
-
Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP)
The collaborative effort aims to ensure a transparent investigation and to bring any accountable individuals to justice.
OTS Administrator Undersecretary Gilberto DC Cruz reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to passenger safety and organizational integrity.
“We do not tolerate such acts within our organization,” Usec. Cruz stated. “Any violation of trust or misconduct will be thoroughly investigated, and those found responsible will face appropriate consequences—including both criminal and administrative punishments—if warranted.”
As of this writing, the personnel involved have been relieved of their duties pending the results of the inquiry. The OTS remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of public service and will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
