BOC expedites petroleum imports to stabilize domestic fuel supply and prices

In a proactive move to ensure national energy security and price stability, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) has implemented a nationwide “fast-lane” protocol for the release of petroleum imports. Under the new directive, fuel shipments are now being cleared within 24 hours of arrival, significantly reducing the turnaround time for essential energy resources.

This acceleration is designed to eliminate logistical bottlenecks and prevent delays that could impact the availability of fuel in local markets.

By ensuring that shipments reach communities and businesses without hindrance, the BOC aims to provide a buffer against global supply chain volatility and maintain steady pricing for Filipino consumers.

Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno emphasized that the bureau has mobilized dedicated teams to oversee this initiative. “Our customs officers and port officials are monitoring petroleum shipments around the clock,” said Commissioner Nepomuceno.

“We are working in close coordination with other key government agencies to address public concerns regarding fuel supply and to ensure that our operations remains smooth and resilient, even in the face of international market challenges.”

The BOC’s streamlined processes come at a critical time as fuel continues to arrive from various international suppliers. By prioritizing these commodities, the Bureau is supporting the country’s transport sector, daily household needs, and the broader economy.

The Bureau of Customs remains committed to its mandate of trade facilitation and border protection while playing a vital role in sustaining the nation’s livelihoods through efficient resource management.
