The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), under the leadership of Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza, recently met with officials from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), led by Undersecretary for e-Government David L. Almirol Jr., to discuss the proposed integration of the electronic Taxpayer Identification Number (eTIN) into the eGovPH application. The meeting, held in March, forms part of the government’s broader digitalization efforts aimed at enhancing taxpayer services.
Also present during the discussions was Undersecretary Rodolfo John Robert Palattao IV of the Presidential Management Staff.
During the meeting, the eGovPH app was highlighted as a centralized platform capable of hosting digital identification systems. The proposed eTIN feature is expected to streamline taxpayer transactions by providing a more accessible and efficient means of identification within government services.
In addition, both agencies discussed ongoing enhancements to the Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS). The BIR formally requested the inclusion of BIR Form No. 1701-MS in the current development phase to further expand the system’s functionality and better serve taxpayers.
The BIR reaffirmed its commitment to improving stakeholder experience through sustained digital transformation initiatives. These efforts aim to simplify processes, broaden access to services, and strengthen interoperability across government platforms.
