The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has opened appointment slots for Seafarer’s Record Book (SRB) and Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID) applications nationwide through December 2026, in a move to ease demand and improve access to essential services for Filipino seafarers.
Data from MARINA’s Manpower Development Service (MDS) show that 320 daily slots each for SRB and SID, and 375 slots for combined transactions, are now available across the MARINA Central Office, satellite offices, and regional offices nationwide. To further accommodate applicants, the MARINA Central Office has also opened additional appointment slots every Saturday from March until June 2026.
MARINA Administrator Sonia B. Malaluan acknowledged the challenges faced by seafarers, particularly long queues and waiting times, and assured the public that the agency is continuously working to improve its systems and expand access.
“We understand the urgency and the sacrifices of our seafarers who rely on these documents for their livelihood. Kaya ginagawa po natin ang lahat para mapabilis ang proseso at mabawasan ang abala sa kanila,” Malaluan said.
“We assure our seafarers that MARINA continues to improve our systems and expand our capacity to better serve them.”
Do not engage with scalpers
The agency also warned the public against scalpers and unauthorized individuals offering paid assistance in securing appointment slots.
MARINA said such transactions are illegal and urged applicants to use only official online channels or coordinate with licensed manning agencies or shipping companies. “We remind our seafarers: huwag po kayong makikipagtransact sa mga scalpers.
Ang pag-secure ng appointment slots ay libre at dapat dumaan lamang sa opisyal na sistema. Ginagawa namin ang lahat para protektahan ang bawat aplikante at masiguro na patas ang proseso,” Malaluan added.
MARINA emphasized that safeguards are in place to protect applicants and maintain the integrity of the appointment system, as part of its broader push for more efficient, transparent, and accessible frontline services for Filipino seafarers.
