The Philippines has cemented its status as a premier global diving destination, generating PHP 339.73 million in sales leads at the Marine Diving Fair 2026 in Tokyo, alongside clinching a prestigious runner-up finish at the Marine Diving Awards.
A delegation of 14 elite Philippine exhibitors—representing the country’s top-tier dive resorts, liveaboard operators, and airlines—captivated the Japanese market during the three-day event, showcasing the archipelago’s unparalleled underwater wonders and world-class hospitality.
Adding to the event’s success, the Philippines officially secured Second Place for Best Diving Area (Overseas) at the Marine Diving Awards. This marks a significant climb from its third-place finish the previous year.
The highly coveted accolade is determined by a rigorous nationwide readers’ poll conducted by Marine Diving Web, Japan’s leading scuba diving platform, which boasts a massive community of over 1.25 million active users.
“This recognition is a testament to the Philippines’ rich marine biodiversity, our world-class dive infrastructure, and the resilient partnerships within our tourism industry. We are thrilled to see our efforts resonate so deeply with the Japanese diving community,” said a spokesperson for the Department of Tourism.
