Thailand’s Department of Rail Transport Deputy Director General to keynote at ASEAN RailCon 2026

Organizers of the ASEAN Railway Conference (ASEAN RailCon) 2026 have officially announced that Mr. Athibhu Chitranukroh, Deputy Director General of Thailand’s Department of Rail Transport, will join the upcoming summit as a distinguished keynote speaker. The premier regional conference is scheduled to take place next month from June 18–19, 2026.

Mr. Athibhu stands as one of the region’s leading railway visionaries, bringing a unique blend of technical and economic expertise to the conference. He holds dual master’s degrees in Economics from Indiana University and Engineering Management from George Washington University. His career in public service has been highly decorated, earning him prestigious honors including Government Official of the Year (2005) and the Apirak Navy Award (2019).

As a driving force behind Thailand’s modern infrastructure, Mr. Athibhu’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping several transformative, large-scale projects, including:

  • The Bangkok Mass Rapid Transit Master Plan

  • The Railway Development Master Plan & High-Speed Train Initiatives

  • The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Transport & Logistics Master Plan

At ASEAN RailCon 2026, Mr. Athibhu will address critical themes at the forefront of regional transit development. His insights will focus on building regional connectivity, implementing sustainable transport networks, and developing resilient railway systems. These topics align directly with the conference’s core focus: strengthening pan-ASEAN cooperation to meet pressing global energy and logistics challenges.
