MRT-7 will have 14 stations with 12 to start operation by Q2 2027 – DOTr

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) clarified that the MRT-7 project will still operate with 14 stations, contrary to circulating reports that only 13 stations will push through.

The San Jose del Monte (SJDM) Station remains part of the MRT-7 project and has not been removed from the approved alignment.

With that, the DOTr said that the initial 12 stations (Sacred Heart to North Avenue) are on track to commence operations by the second quarter of 2027, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to fast track all infrastructure projects for the commuters.

Meanwhile, the two stations – Tala and SJDM – are expected to be completed and opened to the riding public in 2028.

MRT-7 is a 22.6 kms rail system from North Avenue EDSA to San Jose del Monte Bulacan. Once fully operational, it will cut commute times between San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, and North Avenue, Quezon City, from up to 3 hours down to just 35 minutes.
