PAL announces temporary cancellation of General Santos flights following Mindanao earthquake

Philippine Airlines (PAL) advises the public that all flights to and from General Santos City (GES) scheduled from June 11 to June 14, 2026, have been canceled.

This follows the temporary closure of General Santos International Airport to commercial flights due to the recent strong earthquake that affected parts of Mindanao.

The cancellations have been implemented to facilitate critical safety assessments and ensure close coordination with airport authorities following the seismic event.

The following PAL flights between June 11 and June 14, 2026, are canceled:

Route Flight Numbers
Manila – General Santos – Manila PR 453 / 454
Manila – General Santos – Manila PR 2455 / 2456
Cebu – General Santos – Cebu PR 2339 / 2340

“The safety and security of our passengers, crew, and ground personnel remain our highest priority,” PAL said in a statement.

To assist affected passengers, Philippine Airlines is offering several flexible recovery options, with all penalties waived:

  • Reroute via Davao (DVO): Passengers with urgent travel requirements may choose to reroute their flights via Davao, subject to seat availability. Rerouting is free of charge if done within 60 days from the original flight date.

  • Free Rebooking: Passengers can rebook their flights to a later date within 60 days from the original schedule (subject to seat availability).

  • Travel Credit: The full value of the ticket can be converted into travel credits for future use.

  • Full Refund: Passengers may request a full refund of their ticket without penalties, subject to applicable company policies.

PAL strongly advises all passengers not to proceed to the airport if their flights are listed above. Travelers are encouraged to monitor updates through PAL’s official communication channels and check the real-time status of their flights online before making travel arrangements.

Philippine Airlines thanks the public for their patience and understanding as the airline works to ensure safe operations.
