NNIC: No injuries in ground incident at NAIA; investigation underway

A ground incident involving two aircraft occurred at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at approximately 11:38 p.m. on 7 July 2026, when Saudia Flight SV871, which was taxiing for departure, came into contact with a parked Philippine Airlines (PAL) aircraft. No injuries were reported, and airport operations were not significantly affected, New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) said.

Initial reports indicate that the wingtip of the taxiing Saudia aircraft struck the tail section of the parked PAL Airbus A320 at low speed. No injuries to passengers, crew, or ground personnel were reported.

All passengers aboard the departing aircraft were safely disembarked. Saudia Flight SV871 was cancelled, and the aircraft was towed to a designated bay for inspection. Both aircraft sustained damage that is now undergoing technical assessment. No airport infrastructure or ground equipment was damaged.

NNIC ground operations and safety teams responded immediately after the incident was reported, securing the area and coordinating the repositioning of both aircraft. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) was also notified through established protocols.

A full investigation is currently being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including a review of airside communications, aircraft movement records, and other relevant operational data.

NNIC said it is extending its full cooperation to the concerned airlines and aviation authorities to ensure a thorough and objective review. Updates will be provided through official channels as verified information becomes available.

NAIA continues to operate normally.
