Undersecretary Claire Castro of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) reaffirmed today that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remains steadfastly focused on governance and public service delivery, independent of public opinion polls.
Speaking at a Palace press briefing, Undersecretary Castro emphasized that while the administration monitors public sentiment, the President’s primary objective is to address the immediate needs of the Filipino people.
“Ang Pangulo ay hindi po apektado ng numero. Tumaas ‘yan, bumaba ‘yan. Ang focus ng Pangulo ay magtrabaho,” Castro said. (“The President is not affected by numbers. Whether they go up or down, the President’s focus is to work.”) “Kung ano ang kailangang maipaabot sa ating mga kababayan, ‘yun po ang gagawin ng ating Pangulo at ng administrasyon na ito.” (“Whatever needs to be delivered to our countrymen, that is what our President and this administration will do.”)
While the President’s work ethic remains steady, Castro clarified that the administration does not ignore polling data. Instead, Cabinet members actively analyze these figures to pinpoint which sectors and regions require more intensive government intervention and resources.
Undersecretary Castro noted that because the President is not eligible for re-election, his focus is entirely clear of political campaigning: “In the first place, hindi naman siya tatakbo bilang Pangulo sa susunod. So trabaho lang po ang Pangulo.” (“In the first place, he is not running for President next time. So the President is purely focused on work.”)
The Palace statement follows the release of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted from June 20 to 29, 2026. The data highlights a steady upward trajectory in public approval:
