ASEAN Foreign Ministers met on Wednesday with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, the Rt Hon. Edward Miliband MP, at the ASEAN–United Kingdom (U.K.) Post-Ministerial Conference.
The high-level session marked the fifth anniversary of the ASEAN–U.K. Dialogue Partnership, celebrating five years of expanding political, economic, and security ties.
During the conference, delegates conducted a comprehensive review of progress achieved since the establishment of the Dialogue Partnership. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening engagement across key priority areas, including regional peace and stability, economic resilience, sustainable development, and upholding an open, rules-based regional architecture.

Economic Growth & Prosperity: Strengthening trade and investment flows, supporting supply chain resilience, and accelerating digital transformation across Southeast Asia.

Climate Action & Green Energy: Driving sustainable infrastructure initiatives, supporting clean energy transitions, and building regional climate resilience.

Human Capital & Innovation: Expanding educational exchanges, technical assistance programs, and scientific collaboration.

As the Dialogue Partnership moves into its next phase, ASEAN and the United Kingdom agreed to map out future joint initiatives under their broader strategic framework, ensuring that cooperation translates into tangible benefits for the peoples of both Southeast Asia and the U.K.
