As Lufthansa Technik celebrates 70 years of vocational training, a dynamic new chapter begins for hundreds of young professionals.
With the start of the 2026 training and academic year, the company has welcomed 287 new apprentices and dual-system students across its German facilities. High candidate demand enabled all available positions to be fully allocated, underscoring the strong appeal of Lufthansa Technik’s training programs and the long-term prospects of technical careers in aviation.
Since welcoming its inaugural cohort of 40 apprentices in Hamburg in 1956, Lufthansa Technik has served as a launchpad for thousands of skilled professionals—many of whom now hold roles as senior technical experts, managers, and trainers within the organization.
Over seven decades, the evolution of these training programs has mirrored the transformation of the aviation sector itself, expanding from traditional aircraft engine mechanics to cutting-edge digital, electrical, and commercial disciplines.

The 2026 intake spans more than a dozen distinct occupations. While technical trades in aircraft maintenance, engine overhaul, electronics, and production technology remain the primary focus, the programs also encompass logistics, IT, business management, and specialized dual-degree programs in engineering and computer science.

Hamburg (220 Trainees): Hamburg remains the core hub of vocational training for the Group, welcoming 191 apprentices and 29 dual students. This cohort includes eight apprentices at Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services (LTLS) and one Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems at subsidiary Avionic Design. Frankfurt (26 Trainees): 16 trainees join Lufthansa Technik AG, and 10 join Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services. (Training start: Aug 3)

Alzey (20 Trainees): Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey welcomes 20 new trainees, predominantly specializing in engine maintenance technology, alongside office administration, IT, and logistics. (Training start: Aug 3)
