South Premiere Power Corporation (SPPC) and Linseed Field Corporation (LFC) are going to conduct a feasibility study for an integrated liquefied natural gas (LNG) downstream supply system to support the growing energy requirements of ecozone locators in CALABARZON.
This developed following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) formalizing a joint undertaking to explore innovative energy solutions for PEZA economic zones in CALABARZON.
LFC operates the country’s biggest LNG import and regasification terminal in Batangas, while SPPC is one of two gas-fired power facilities supported by the terminal.
The MOU was signed by PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga and Yari A. Miralao, President and Chief Executive Officer of SPPC and LFC, together with Mr. Noel A. Baladiang.
The agreement establishes a framework for conducting a feasibility study on the potential deployment of an integrated LNG supply for ecozone locators.
The initiative seeks to assess the viability of LNG as a cleaner, scalable, and competitive fuel source for power generation and industrial applications within PEZA economic zones, while supporting the transition toward a lower-carbon energy system.
The partnership also leverages the complementary capabilities of the two private sector partners.
Together, the companies bring technical expertise and operational experience that can help evaluate practical LNG solutions for export-oriented industries.
For PEZA, the initiative reinforces its long-standing push to secure a reliable, cost-efficient, and scalable energy supply for its ecozones, a concern that has grown more urgent as industrial estates expand across CALABARZON.
A successful feasibility study could pave the way for a future supply agreement that brings LNG directly to PEZA locators, offering an alternative fuel source that supports both energy security and lower operational costs for industries within the zones.
DG Panga underscored the strategic importance of the collaboration, affirming, “This MOU is a step toward ensuring that our locators never have to choose between reliable power and competitive costs. By working with SPPC and Linseed, we are laying the groundwork for a sustainable energy solution that can grow alongside our economic zones, especially as we position CALABARZON as a key node in the country’s industrial corridor.”
