The Bureau of Customs (BOC) congratulated the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) on its attainment of the Gold Certification in Postal Security from the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the highest level of certification recognizing compliance with international postal security standards.
Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno lauded PHLPost for the achievement, describing it as a milestone that reflects the agency’s commitment to strengthening postal security and enhancing the reliability of international mail services.
“I would like to congratulate the Philippine Postal Corporation for its well-deserved Gold Certification. I am glad that the Bureau of Customs was able to contribute in your achievement, which now proves that the PHLPost is truly world-class. The BOC renews its commitment of cooperation to PHLPost as it bears the Gold Standard in Postal Security and Customs Compliance,” Commissioner Nepomuceno said.
PHLPost, in turn, formally recognized the contribution of the BOC, particularly the NAIA Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC), in helping improve customs performance and strengthen the security of the international mail stream.
In a letter of commendation, PHLPost Acting Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer Maximo C. Sta. Maria III highlighted the impact of the sustained collaboration between the two agencies.
“We wish to place on record that our Customs Performance stood at only 17%-34% two years ago, and through the sustained collaboration, technical support, and shared commitment of the BOC NAIA-CMEC Team, this figure has since risen to an impressive 78%. This remarkable turnaround was a factor that the UPU took into account in granting PHLPost its Gold Certification in Postal Security,” Sta. Maria stated.
Sta. Maria also commended the professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the BOC team throughout the process.
“On behalf of the Management and personnel of PHLPost, we extend our heartfelt appreciation and commendation of the entire BOC NAIA-CMEC Team for their unwavering support, professionalism, and spirit of cooperation. Their contribution has not only elevated our international postal security standing but also reinforced the shared mandate of both our agencies to protect the integrity of the international mail stream and safeguard our borders against illicit trade,” he added.
The recognition reflects the strong partnership between the BOC and PHLPost in enhancing postal security, strengthening customs compliance, and protecting the integrity of the international mail stream.
