Highlighting a strategic blueprint for comprehensive economic growth, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cris A. Roqué presented the agency’s fiscal year 2027 budget proposal before the House Committee on Appropriations.
The comprehensive proposal emphasizes that building a resilient economy requires strengthening vital ties across local markets, foreign investors, industrial sectors, and export partners.
The DTI’s strategic plan centers on integrating Philippine exporters into global supply chains, actively driving foreign direct investments (FDIs), and expanding digital capabilities for domestic enterprises. Alongside these growth-oriented initiatives, the framework incorporates balanced market safeguards to ensure fair competition and robust consumer protection.
Secretary Roqué outlined how the proposed budget will empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through enhanced digitalization programs, equipping domestic businesses to scale operations and compete effectively in international markets.
Furthermore, the agency aims to streamline investment corridors to attract high-value foreign direct investments, fostering innovation and creating quality employment opportunities nationwide.
As the legislative review progresses, the DTI remains committed to collaborating with lawmakers to secure the necessary funding and policy support to advance the country’s industrialization and export development goals.
