In his welcome address, PSE President and CEO Ramon S. Monzon praised the company’s enduring strength, adaptability, and resilience throughout its history as the country’s first and oldest mining firm.
Monson highlighted Benguet’s continuous innovation and leadership in the mining sector, stating, “Benguet Corp has remained committed to striking a balance in embracing change, upholding environmental responsibility, and maximizing shareholder value. May this example continue to be a model for our community of listed firms.”
Benguet Corporation’s journey began on January 4, 1950, when it listed 12 million shares on the Manila Stock Exchange (MSE) under the stock symbol BC.
The company underwent two name changes: first in 1956 to Benguet Consolidated, Inc., and later in 1980 to Benguet Corporation, following the Romualdez family’s acquisition and subsequent expansion of the company’s businesses.
The reclassification of the company’s shares into A and B shares took effect on March 12, 1974.
In a recent development, BC announced its first dividend payout to shareholders in over three decades, following the successful conclusion of its 30-year debt restructuring in October 2024.
