Maersk, the world’s leading integrated logistics company, is exploring potential collaboration to extend its services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Philippines.
Jenn B. Alcano, senior manager business development of Maersk Contract Logistics in the Philippines, said the planned collaboration started as an initiative of the Supply Chain and Logistics Group of the Department of Trade and Industry to tap the vast resources of Maersk.
On April 8, 2025, Alcano presented the Maersk solutions to DTI Undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco and members of the Philippine Online Sellers, Distributors Council and Advocates (PODCAS) to explore how Maersk’s comprehensive logistics solutions can benefit their businesses.
“The message is that Maersk is here to support small business,” Pacheco said.
Alcano said that what Maersk can possibly offer initially is through a consolidation arrangement where PODCAS can work with a consolidator, who will deal with Maersk, for cost efficiency.
In addition, Maersk can also offer its online booking platform to SMEs for special rates.
Its latest investment in the Philippines is the impressive PhP4.8 billion Maersk Optimus Distribution Center in Calamba, Laguna, which showcases a state-of-the-art approach to distribution, with its massive 100,000-square meter space and 75,000+ pallet capacity.
President Marcos attended the facility’s inauguration on Oct. 30, 2024.
