Filipino craftsmanship takes center stage at LIKHA Exhibition 2025

Filipino artisans, weavers, and creatives from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao gathered once again to celebrate cultural heritage and craftsmanship at the annual LIKHA Exhibition, a flagship initiative spearheaded by the Office of the First Lady in anticipation of the 127th Philippine Independence Day.

Held at the newly inaugurated Foro De Intramuros, a vibrant community events space built on the historic grounds of the former Ateneo De Manila University, the exhibition was formally opened on Thursday, June 5, by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos, who led the ceremonial ringing of the bell to welcome exhibitors and guests.

Joining the First Lady were key figures in government and heritage promotion, including Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, Presidential Adviser for Pasig River Development Jerry Acuzar, and Intramuros Administration (IA) Administrator Atty. Joan Padilla.

A showcase of authentic Filipino artistry, LIKHA highlights the talents of regional artisans through intricate textiles, handcrafted jewelry, native accessories, and sustainable fashion. The exhibition reflects the country’s rich cultural diversity and ongoing commitment to support local creatives.

Tourism Secretary Frasco personally toured the exhibit and proudly supported local artisans by purchasing handcrafted items from her home province of Cebu—including a handmade bag and a unique piece of jewelry. She was also gifted a ukulele from a fellow Cebuana, an instrument she fondly plays during her leisure time.

The LIKHA Exhibition runs from June 6 to 8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Foro De Intramuros, Manila. The public is invited to experience the beauty of Filipino craftsmanship and take part in this cultural celebration.
