In a significant boost to local enterprises, 2GO Travel, the Philippines’ largest integrated sea travel provider, and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced the launch of the inaugural 2GO x OTOP (One Town, One Product) Kiosk, titled “Treasures of Region 12.”
This pioneering partnership, which highlights the handcrafted goods and delicacies from the SOCCSKSARGEN region, marks a major milestone in 2GO Travel’s commitment to empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide.
This initiative is a core component of 2GO Travel’s #Biyahe2Business campaign, a movement designed to inspire and equip local entrepreneurs to transform their sea journeys into viable business ventures. By dedicating prime retail space aboard 2GO vessels, the partnership provides a powerful new platform for SOCCSKSARGEN’s talented artisans and entrepreneurs to reach a nationwide market, both across the seas and throughout the archipelago.
“We are incredibly honored to carry the pride and treasures of SOCCSKSARGEN across the seas,” said a representative from 2GO Travel. “The 2GO x OTOP Kiosk is more than just a retail space; it’s a floating marketplace that connects local producers directly with consumers and aspiring resellers. This is a practical demonstration of our #Biyahe2Business campaign—turning every voyage into an opportunity to grow and earn.”
2GO passengers can now easily discover, support, and bring home a curated selection of authentic Region 12 products, including unique handcrafted goods and delicious delicacies. Whether travelers are looking for the perfect pasalubong (souvenir or gift) or seeking fresh, marketable finds to resell in their own communities, the kiosk makes it easy.
Furthermore, travelers can maximize the business opportunity by utilizing 2GO Travel’s FREE 50kg baggage allowance, allowing them to transport a substantial inventory of goods. This feature is particularly valuable for entrepreneurs and resellers, effectively turning every trip into a chance to scale their small businesses.
An official from the DTI emphasized the importance of this private-sector partnership. “The DTI’s OTOP program aims to foster inclusive growth by supporting communities to develop competitive products. This collaboration with 2GO Travel provides our regional MSMEs with unprecedented access to the tourism and trade sectors. This is just the beginning of something bigger, towards a future where every voyage can help local dreams set sail and contribute to the economic vitality of the Philippines.”
The launch of the SOCCSKSARGEN kiosk serves as a successful pilot, with plans underway to expand the 2GO x OTOP initiative to showcase the unique products from other Philippine regions, creating a truly national floating marketplace for local goods.
