National and local governments, business leaders rally behind Pres. Marcos Jr.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recently received strong commitments of support from key sectors of Philippine society, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between national and local government units (LGUs) and the private sector in driving national development and addressing the people’s concerns.

The League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP), led by President and South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., conveyed their full support to President Marcos Jr. during a courtesy call at Malacañan Palace on Thursday.

Governor Tamayo presented the LPP General Assembly Resolution, issued on November 18, which expresses unequivocal support for the President and reiterates the LPP’s commitment to protecting the Presidency and upholding the Constitution, democracy, and good governance. The resolution also encourages member-provinces to “remain steadfast in promoting peace, stability, and accountable governance, and to work closely with national authorities.”

In response, President Marcos thanked the LPP officials, stressing the necessity of collaboration between national and local governments to advance development goals. The President also stated that there was “so much work to be done to be distracted by political noise. Furthermore, he assured the officials that more progress in the ongoing investigation into flood control project anomalies would be shared with the public.

In parallel expressions of support, the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) also reiterated its full backing for President Marcos in a statement on November 19. The LCP affirmed its support for the President’s commitment to further empowering LGUs in advancing public infrastructure, education, and health services, while ensuring transparency and accountability.

On November 17, the Philippine business community issued a joint statement expressing its strong commitment to support a competitive, resilient, and inclusive economy under the Marcos administration.

Major business groups, including the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX), Makati Business Club (MBC), and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), among others, reaffirmed their commitment to “responsible leadership, ethical practices, and constructive engagement with government.”

“In a time of increased uncertainty, our message is clear: the private sector remains united in its belief in the Philippines’ long-term potential,” the statement read, promising continued investment, job creation, and the strengthening of the economy’s productive capacity.

This unified front from local governments and the private sector signals a strong consensus on the need for a collaborative approach to achieve the country’s development and economic objectives.
