Malacañang reiterated on Sunday that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stands in full solidarity with citizens demanding accountability for anomalous and “ghost” flood control projects, assuring the public that the government is committed to pursuing justice without compromise.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed the President’s unwavering support for the legitimate calls aired in recent protest actions.
“The President has always maintained that this administration respects freedom of expression. And we know the clear call of our countrymen is to hold those involved accountable, not to destabilize the government,” Castro said in a media interview. “The President agrees with this, as all of us have the right to be angry about the anomalies concerning these flood control and other infrastructure projects.”
Undersecretary Castro emphasized that the President is personally focused on ensuring accountability for corruption in infrastructure projects, which President Marcos Jr. himself exposed.
She further assured the public that the commitment to justice is absolute and impartial. “The investigation will not spare anyone, including allies or relatives, and charges will be filed based on solid evidence,” Castro stated.
The Palace Press Officer underscored President Marcos’ strict directive to build cases that are “airtight.” This approach is designed to prevent guilty parties from escaping liability due to insufficient evidence or legal technicalities.
“The President is always listening to the voice of the people. We simply ask that all actions remain legal,” Castro concluded, stressing that the administration’s goal is to fight the abuse of public funds by those in positions of power.
