The Port of Salomague marked a significant milestone in Philippine maritime tourism this morning as it officially welcomed the MV Luminara, an ultra-luxury expedition superyacht from the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection. Docking at approximately 7:45 a.m., the vessel’s arrival signals Ilocos Sur’s rising status as a premier gateway for high-end international cruise travel.
The MV Luminara arrived carrying 181 VIP passengers and 374 dedicated crew members. To ensure a seamless transition from sea to shore, local authorities and tourism stakeholders initiated rigorous logistical preparations starting at 6:00 a.m. This included the strategic paneling and dispatch of a luxury fleet of buses and vans, ready to transport guests to the province’s iconic heritage sites.
Despite the early morning bustle, the atmosphere was one of celebration. Upon disembarking, guests were treated to a showcase of Ilocos Sur’s signature hospitality, providing a warm and vibrant introduction to the Philippines.
To honor the superyacht’s maiden call, a formal Plaque Exchange Ceremony was held on-site. The ceremony serves as a traditional maritime gesture, symbolizing the strengthening bond between the Philippines and the global cruise industry.
“The arrival of the MV Luminara is more than just a port call; it is a testament to the world-class infrastructure and cultural richness of Ilocos Sur,” said local tourism officials. “We are proud to serve as a strategic stopover for ultra-luxury vessels as they navigate the pristine waters of the archipelago toward destinations like Boracay.”
As the newest jewel of the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, the MV Luminara represents the pinnacle of boutique cruising.
