As Southeast Asia accelerates its pursuit of a green and inclusive future, the inaugural ASEAN-EU Sustainability Summit 2026 is set to take place today in Cebu, Philippines. Held as an official side event of the 48th ASEAN Leaders’ Summit, this premier regional platform serves as a critical catalyst for bold, cross-sectoral action and high-level diplomatic cooperation.
Under the auspices of the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN Chairship, the Summit is jointly organized by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC).
The Summit brings together a distinguished cohort of over 200 senior representatives, including government ministers, C-suite executives, development institution leaders, and civil society advocates from across both regions. By bridging the gap between European innovation and ASEAN’s rapid economic evolution, the event aims to transform sustainability commitments into scalable, real-world solutions.
The program features a lineup of influential speakers addressing the most pressing environmental and economic challenges of the decade, including:
-
The Circular Economy: Transitioning from consumption-heavy models to regenerative systems.
-
Sustainable Trade & Supply Chains: Ensuring transparency and resilience in global logistics.
-
Sustainable Agriculture: Securing food systems while protecting regional biodiversity.
-
ESG Leadership: Harmonizing environmental, social, and governance standards across borders.
-
ASEAN-EU Green Cooperation: Strengthening the bilateral framework for climate finance and technology transfer. “The ASEAN-EU Sustainability Summit is more than a forum; it is a launchpad. By aligning the strategic interests of European and Southeast Asian leaders, we are creating the necessary friction to spark genuine innovation and collaborative investment,” said a spokesperson for the ECCP.
