PFA champions inclusive growth and MSME modernization through strategic DTI partnership

The Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) officially launched Franchise Asia Philippines 2026, the country’s premier franchising event, highlighting the industry’s pivotal role in transforming the entrepreneurial landscape.

This year’s theme underscores the “transformative power of franchising” as a primary engine for empowering Filipino entrepreneurs and driving inclusive economic progress across the archipelago.

A central pillar of the 2026 roadmap is the PFA’s strategic alignment with the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) 5-point MSME development agenda, championed by Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque. By using proven business systems, the PFA helps reduce startup risks, accelerates enterprise growth, and supports sustainable job creation.

“Franchising is not just about business expansion; it is about democratizing success,” stated the PFA. “By providing Filipinos with blueprints for proven businesses, we are shortening the learning curve for our MSMEs and ensuring they stay resilient in a competitive global market.”

Representing the DTI, Assistant Secretary Leonila T. Baluyut reinforced the government’s commitment to the long-standing DTI-PFA partnership. During the briefing, she emphasized the need for a collaborative ecosystem that fosters innovation and prepares local brands for international stages.

The partnership focuses on several key areas for 2026:

  • Digital Transformation: Integrating modern tech solutions into traditional franchise models.

  • Capacity Building: Specialized training for MSMEs to transition into franchisors.

  • Market Access: Streamlining the path for Filipino brands to compete in the ASEAN region and beyond.
