PPA and health officials partner to launch month-long measles vaccination drive at NorthPort

In a proactive move to safeguard public health, the Department of Health (DOH) has partnered with key maritime and transport stakeholders to launch the “Ligtas Tigdas Campaign” at the NorthPort Passenger Terminal Building (PTB).

On May 13, 2026, representatives from the DOH, the Port Management Office (PMO) NCR North, Manila North Harbour Port Inc. (MNHPI), and 2GO Group, Inc. conducted an ocular inspection of the terminal facility. The visit aimed to strategically identify a highly accessible location within the terminal to serve as a free vaccination hub for the duration of the campaign.

The “Ligtas Tigdas Campaign” is scheduled to run from June 1 to June 30, 2026. It aims to provide free measles vaccinations to young travelers and the general public, strengthening community immunity and preventing the localized spread of the highly contagious disease.

“Collaboration among our institutions is essential to bring vital health services directly to the people,” the participating agencies said in a joint statement. “By utilizing our transport hubs, we ensure that more families have convenient access to essential vaccines while they are on the move.”

The PMO NCR North reaffirmed its commitment to the initiative, noting that the partnership is a reflection of its dedication to the safety and well-being of the thousands of passengers who pass through the terminal daily.

The designated vaccination site within the NorthPort PTB will be staffed by qualified medical personnel and will be open to all eligible children and individuals. Travelers and residents in the surrounding port area are encouraged to take advantage of this free service to ensure their families are protected against measles.

The Ligtas Tigdas is a national health initiative led by the Department of Health to increase vaccination coverage and eliminate measles outbreaks in the Philippines through accessible, community-based immunization programs.
