Pres. Marcos Jr. reaffirms commitment to helping vulnerable sectors at Mandaluyong ‘Bawat Bayan Makikinabang’ rollout”

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the national government’s unwavering commitment to uplifting vulnerable sectors during the Mandaluyong City rollout of the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program on Monday.

Speaking at the Mandaluyong College of Science and Technology gymnasium, President Marcos emphasized that the administration is continuously seeking innovative ways to deliver immediate and impactful relief to Filipinos in need.

“Asahan po ninyo na ang inyong pamahalaan ay hindi na kami nagpapahinga at lahat kami ay lagi kaming nag-iisip kung ano pa ba ang mga para-paraan na magagawa natin upang matulungan ang mga kababayan natin… para maramdaman at magamit agad,” President Marcos said. (“Rest assured that your government does not rest. We are constantly thinking of ways to help our countrymen in need… so that they can feel and utilize this assistance immediately.”)

The Mandaluyong rollout provided immediate relief and long-term development support to thousands of residents. Key highlights of the distribution include:

  • Food Security: Thousands of low-income families, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), single parents, and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries each received 10-kilogram bags of rice. The initiative was funded through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

  • Educational Support: Under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF), the administration allocated PhP100,000 per barangay to support local students. A total of 135 scholars across Mandaluyong’s 27 barangays received PhP20,000 each in direct cash assistance.

  • Community Development: An additional PhP100,000 was distributed to each of the 27 barangays to fund priority grassroots community projects identified by local officials.

President Marcos underscored that strong collaboration between the national government and Local Government Units (LGUs) is vital for cutting through bureaucratic red tape and ensuring efficient service delivery.

“When the national and local governments cooperate well, the deployment of funds and services is faster and more efficient,” the President explained. “It means the help truly reaches the right people.”

The “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” initiative is a nationwide campaign by the Marcos administration designed to strengthen grassroots governance. By directing national resources straight to the barangay level, the program drives localized solutions for education, food security, and community development. The Mandaluyong City launch follows successful rollouts earlier this month in Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Pasay.

The event was attended by Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos, former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., and former Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr.
