The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has announced the extension of the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) covering General Santos Airport as authorities continue to assess the impact of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that recently struck Sarangani and neighboring areas.
Under the extended NOTAM, operational restrictions at General Santos Airport will remain in effect from 4:56 p.m. on June 10 until 6:00 p.m. on June 14. The measure is intended to ensure the safety of passengers, airport personnel, and aircraft operations while ongoing inspections and necessary assessments are conducted.
During the period of restriction, only government, military, and humanitarian flights will be permitted to operate at the airport. These flights are essential for emergency response efforts, relief operations, disaster assessment activities, and the transport of critical personnel and supplies to affected communities.
CAAP continues to work closely with relevant government agencies, local authorities, and aviation stakeholders to monitor the situation and determine when normal airport operations can safely resume.
Passengers with scheduled flights to and from General Santos Airport are strongly advised to coordinate directly with their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding flight schedules, cancellations, rebooking options, and other travel advisories.
The aviation authority assures the public that the safety and security of air travelers remain its highest priority. Further updates regarding airport operations will be issued as they become available.
