The Department of Economic Planning and Development (DEPDev) officially announced the appointment of Ms. Marie Jeanette P. Cordero as the new Director III of the Development Information Staff (DIS).
DEPDev Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan administered the oath of office to Cordero today at the DEPDev Central Office in Mandaluyong City, marking a significant milestone for the agency’s communication and advocacy arms.
Cordero is a homegrown talent who began her career at DEPDev as an Economic Development Specialist II. Rising steadily through the ranks, she most recently served as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Director III of the DIS. In this role, she provided vital leadership support and strategic direction, spearheading the formulation and execution of DEPDev’s nationwide communication campaigns and stakeholders’ advocacy programs.
“Director Cordero’s deep institutional knowledge and proven track record in development communication make her uniquely qualified to lead DIS,” the agency noted in a statement. “Her journey within DEPDev highlights our commitment to cultivating leadership from within our ranks.”
Cordero holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Santo Tomas. Committed to continuous professional excellence, she earned her Master’s Degree in Development Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines in 2023, where she graduated as part of the prestigious Middle Managers Class (MMC) Batch 30 – Sillag.
In her full-time capacity as Director, Cordero will oversee the agency’s public relations, media engagement, and strategic information dissemination to ensure the public remains informed of the government’s economic policies and development agendas.
