Philippine exports grew 10.6 percent in the first five months this year, the highest recorded since 1991, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported.
The year-to-date total value of exports, that is from January to May 2026, amounted to USD 37.87 billion. This represents an annual increase of 10.6 percent from the year-to-date total exports value of USD 34.25 billion in January to May 2025.
The year-to-date total value of exports that is from January to May 2026 was the highest recorded since the series began in 1991, the PSA added.
For the month of May, the country’s exports amounted to USD7.87 billion, 7.6 percent increase from the USD7.32 billion total export sales in the same month of 2025. The export sales in May 2026 was also the highest recorded since March 2026 with USD8.19 billion.
Electronic products posted the highest annual increase with the commodity group’s total exports of USD458.57 million in May.
This was followed by machinery and transport equipment with USD441.61 million, an annual increase of USD149.50 million, and other mineral products with an annual increment of USD94.38 million.
Other minerals registered total exports of USD408.78 million for May.
By major trading partner, exports to USA comprised the highest export value amounting to USD 1.35 billion or a share of 17.2 percent to the country’s total exports in May 2026.
Completing the top five export trading partners for this month with their export values and percent shares to the total exports were: Hong Kong, Japan, China, and Singapore.
Meanwhile, the country’s total external trade in goods went up by 16.1 percent to USD 21.23 billion in May this year from USD18.28 billion last year. Total external trade during the month, 62.9 percent were imported goods while the remaining 37.1 percent were exported goods.
The balance of trade in goods, or the difference between the value of exports and imports, meanwhile, recorded a deficit of USD5.48 billion.
