dnata secures seven-year ground handling license renewal at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

dnata, a leading global air and travel services provider, has been re-awarded its ground handling license at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS).

After a competitive public tender by the airport operator, the renewal strengthens dnata’s position at one of Europe’s premier aviation hubs and authorizes the company to provide ground handling services at AMS for the next seven years.

The renewal comes as Schiphol prepares to transition into the next phase of its ground handling operations. Having served the Amsterdam market for over a decade, dnata currently supports more than 20 passenger and cargo airlines at Schiphol. The company’s local team of over 1,200 aviation professionals manages approximately 500,000 tonnes of cargo and processes around 16,000 flights annually.

“We are proud to continue our ground handling operations at Amsterdam Schiphol,” said Thiemo van Spellen, Managing Director of dnata Netherlands. “This award reflects the trust placed in our people, our operational capabilities, and our commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and consistent services. As Schiphol enters its next phase, we look forward to continuing our close collaboration with the airport, our airline customers, employees, unions, and industry partners to support smooth operations and a resilient operating environment.”

With the new seven-year mandate secured, dnata is positioned to expand its existing operations, deepen local partnerships, and pursue new growth opportunities. The extension highlights dnata’s broader economic commitment to the Netherlands, highlighted by major investments in infrastructure and capabilities, including:

  • dnata Cargo City Amsterdam: A state-of-the-art facility representing a €70 million investment, boasting an annual capacity of 600,000 tonnes.

  • Fleet & Tech Upgrades: Continued investments in advanced ground support equipment (GSE) and enhanced environmental management systems.

  • Operational Excellence: Strategic focus on safety, high service standards, and robust customer partnerships.

Amsterdam remains a pivotal station in dnata’s European network, combining localized ground and cargo expertise with the scale and global standards of an international aviation leader.
