LRTA celebrates 46 years of service to Filipino commuters

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) today marks its 46th anniversary, celebrating nearly half a century of unwavering commitment to providing safe, reliable, and accessible mass transportation to millions of Filipino commuters.

Since its inception, the LRTA has served as a cornerstone of urban mobility in the Philippines. This 46-year milestone stands as a testament to the Authority’s resilience and its vital role in the nation’s infrastructure development. Over the decades, the LRTA has continuously evolved to meet the growing demands of the metropolis, consistently prioritizing passenger safety and operational efficiency.

“As we celebrate this significant milestone, we honor the dedication of our employees, partners, and stakeholders,” LRTA Administrator Hernando T. Cabrera said. “Their tireless work and unwavering support have been the driving force behind our journey. We remain steadfast in our mission to build a more efficient and sustainable rail transit system for every Filipino.”

Looking toward the future, the LRTA is actively focused on modernization and expansion efforts. These initiatives are closely aligned with the national government’s vision of a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines), aimed at fostering inclusive growth through advanced infrastructure.

As part of the anniversary milestones, the LRTA extends its deepest gratitude to the riding public for their continued trust, patience, and patronage of the LRT-2 System. The Authority reaffirms its promise to keep Manila moving forward safely and sustainably for the next half-century and beyond.
