DOE Sec. Garin convenes high-level meeting with global energy leaders to fortify energy security

Moving decisively to secure the nation’s energy future, Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon S. Garin recently convened a high-level strategic meeting with senior executives from Nickel Asia Corporation, ExxonMobil, and ACWA Power.

The collaborative session focused on accelerating the development of the Philippines’ future energy infrastructure and reinforcing long-term grid resilience.

As the country experiences rapid economic expansion, the dialogue centered on critical solutions to enhance power system reliability, diversify the national energy matrix, and scale infrastructure to meet surging demand.

“Building a resilient, sustainable, and affordable energy ecosystem requires robust public-private synergy,” said Secretary Sharon S. Garin. “Our discussions with Nickel Asia, ExxonMobil, and ACWA Power underscore the Philippines’ commitment to welcoming strategic, world-class investments. By integrating traditional infrastructure with cutting-edge innovations, we are ensuring that our economic growth is matched by a stable and secure power supply.”

Key focus areas of the strategic dialogue:
  • Infrastructure & Reliability: Accelerating modern power system upgrades to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply across the archipelago.

  • Resource Diversification: Leveraging the unique expertise of global leaders to transition toward a more balanced, multi-faceted energy mix.

  • Fuel Security & Transition: Exploring the critical role of emerging energy solutions and transitional fuels to stabilize the grid as a greater share of variable renewable energy comes online.

  • Long-Term Resilience: Developing sustainable investment frameworks that safeguard the country against global market volatility and climate risks.

This high-level engagement is part of the DOE’s intensified, ongoing dialogue with global and local energy stakeholders. By fostering a transparent and dynamic investment environment, the DOE continues to pave the way for strategic capital injection, ensuring a secure, reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy future for all Filipinos.
