The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) is considering establishing an Extension Office in Tagbilaran City to bring its services closer to thousands of seafarers, shipping operators, and other maritime stakeholders in Bohol.
The move follows a meeting on July 13, 2026, between MARINA Regional Office VII Director Engr. Ronaldo P. Bandalaria, Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Censoria Cajes-Yap, and representatives of the Philippine Ports Authority–Port Management Office (PMO) to strengthen collaboration between MARINA, the local government of Bohol, and other government agencies.
During the meeting, local officials offered MARINA office space for the proposed Extension Office.
MARINA said that once the Extension Office is established, stakeholders can expect more accessible and faster services.
Services that may be offered to seafarers, such as the issuance of the Seafarer’s Record Book (SRB) and Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID), will depend on MARINA’s available resources, including the provision of SRB/SID printing equipment and the assignment of permanent personnel. Bohol is one of the biggest producers of seafarers in the country.
At present, Bohol has approximately 1,400 registered motorboats and recreational boats, two maritime schools, and one maritime training center.
