The Philippine Railways Institute (PRI), through its Research and Development Division (RDD), joined forces with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to conduct the Academic-Linked Initiatives for Guiding National Rail Research (ALIGN) Roadshow on July 30, 2026, at Bulwagang Balagtas, PUP Main Campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Organized by the RDD staff in close coordination with the PUP College of Engineering—led by Dean Dr. Remedios G. Ado and Railway Engineering Head Engr. Ramir M. Cruz—the event brought together nearly 400 students from the BS Railway Engineering Management (BSREM) and BS Civil Engineering (BSCE) programs. The impressive turnout highlights the expanding collaboration between academic institutions and the national transport sector.
The ALIGN Roadshow aims to align academic research with national railway development priorities. By strengthening institutional ties and fostering innovation in railway engineering and management, the initiative actively builds technical capacity among the country’s next generation of engineers.
By bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world transport challenges, the program champions academic-industry partnerships essential for sustainable railway modernization and long-term national development.
The Philippine Railways Institute serves as the primary research and training center for the Philippine railway sector, dedicated to developing human resource capacity and promoting research and innovation to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable national rail transit system.
