The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) is advancing its push toward green industrialization by transforming its public economic zones into smart, energy-secure, and sustainable industrial hubs.
Speaking at the Philippine Conference on Energy Efficiency and Conservation (PCEEC) 2026 in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), PEZA Management Information Systems and Corporate Planning (MISCP) Group Manager Rowena T. Naguit outlined the agency’s strategy to integrate clean energy and energy management frameworks into ecozone operations.
PEZA’s green transition includes key energy procurement and rooftop solar projects across major zones:

Clean Energy Sourcing: The Baguio City Economic Zone (BCEZ) competitively procures 100% of its power supply from a run-of-river hydroelectric facility. Meanwhile, the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ) utilizes liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a cleaner transition fuel.

Solar Energy Integration: PEZA is maximizing the rooftop space of Registered Business Enterprises (RBEs), achieving installed solar capacities of 21 MWp in CEZ, 10 MWp in the Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ), and 2 MWp in BCEZ.

System-Wide Efficiency: Infrastructure updates—including energy-efficient lighting, smart metering, and grid optimization—are being deployed to reduce overall energy consumption across ecozones.
To support locators in adopting sustainable practices, PEZA has partnered with the Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) to provide access to Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), technical assistance, and ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems training. Additionally, PEZA has introduced the Sustainability Reporting Guide for Exporters (SuRGE) and E-SuRGe platforms to help RBEs comply with global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.

Aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), PEZA’s sustainability initiatives aim to enhance locator competitiveness and strengthen the Philippines’ position as a premier, future-ready green investment destination.
