Epson expands into advanced robotics manufacturing at Lima Technology Center

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and Epson Precision Philippines Inc. (EPPI) have signed a Supplemental Agreement to launch a new, high-tech manufacturing project within the Lima Technology Center-Special Economic Zone (LTC-SEZ) in Batangas.

This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone in Epson’s 31-year history in the Philippines, moving the company’s local operations from its long-standing expertise in precision printing into the specialized field of industrial robotics.

Under the agreement, signed by PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga and EPPI Chairman and President Yushi Irie, Epson will expand its registered operations to manufacture various types of industrial robots. The production line will feature state-of-the-art Selective Compliant Articulated Robot Arm (SCARA) and 6-axis models, alongside critical component parts, sub-assemblies for knock-down production, and after-sales service parts.

The project, which represents an investment of over PhP40 million, is scheduled to commence commercial operations in March 2027. It is expected to create 118 new, high-skilled jobs, further bolstering the local workforce.

“Epson has been part of the PEZA family since 1995, and today we welcome them into an entirely new chapter of reinventing itself and moving up the value chain—from precision printing to precision robotics,” said PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga. “This is the kind of growth we want every locator to aspire to: continuously advancing, innovating, and finding new ways to compete globally. When our locators grow bolder, our economy grows stronger.”

As the world’s leading manufacturer of SCARA robots, Epson’s decision to integrate the Philippines into its global robotics supply chain signals strong confidence in the country as a hub for advanced manufacturing. This expansion highlights PEZA’s critical role in facilitating the transition of global firms toward higher-value, future-ready industries as the world shifts toward Industry 4.0 and increased automation.

Epson’s enduring presence in the Philippines for over three decades underscores the stability and competitive advantage the Philippines offers to global investors. By bringing new, cutting-edge product lines to the country, EPPI continues to drive economic growth, provide quality employment, and contribute significantly to the nation’s social and economic development.
