PPA issues advisory on sea travel disruptions due to Tropical Depression Neneng and operational concerns

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has released its official port operations and trip cancellation advisory as of yesterday, following safety guidelines and weather alerts driven by Tropical Depression Neneng.

While the PPA oversees port facilities, it is important to clarify that port authorities do not directly cancel sea voyages. Under standard maritime protocols, trips are automatically suspended whenever the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) issues a “no-sail policy” for specific waters. Additionally, individual shipping lines reserve the right to cancel trips in compliance with their Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) terms issued by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).

Summary of affected ports and routes:
  • PMO Batangas

    • Abra de Ilog: Island Water trips are currently suspended due to weather conditions.

  • PMO Mindoro

    • Port of Lubang: All maritime trips have been completely cancelled.

  • PMO Agusan

    • Baseport of Nasipit: MV Lite Ferry 11 (Route: Nasipit to Jagna) is cancelled due to an unforeseen steering system issue.

Passengers scheduled to travel through the affected ports are strongly advised to coordinate directly with their respective shipping lines before proceeding to the terminals. Rebooking and refund guidelines are being implemented by operators to assist stranded travellers.

Safety remains the highest priority for all maritime stakeholders as weather monitoring continues across affected regions.
