Jointly operated by MOL and the Magsaysay Group, MMMA serves as a cornerstone for maritime human resource development cooperation between Japan and the Philippines, playing a vital role in cultivating elite seafarers dedicated to world-class safe vessel operations.

Curriculum Review: The Minister observed practical maritime education programs operating under an internationally recognized, STCW-compliant curriculum designed to prepare cadets for immediate impact in the global maritime sector.

Furthermore, MMMA is actively championing a diverse and inclusive workforce. In 2026, the academy welcomed a milestone cohort of 31 women cadets (17 in the Nautical Program and 14 in the Engineering Program). This brings the cumulative total of women admitted since the academy’s inception to over 100, reflecting a steadily growing and inclusive future for the maritime profession.
