Total domestic trade volume in the Philippines dropped to 10.57 million tons in the second quarter of 2026, marking a 37.9% annual decline compared to the 17.02 million tons recorded in the same period of 2025.
The latest data highlights shifts in regional outflows, modal transport shares, and key commodity movements across the country.
Road transport remained the dominant mode of domestic trade, accounting for 64.3% of the total volume, followed by water at 35.7% and air at 0.1%:

Road Transport: Registered 6.79 million tons, down 18.1% from 8.29 million tons in Q2 2025.

Water Transport: Registered 3.77 million tons, reflecting a 56.7% drop from 8.72 million tons last year.

Air Transport: Reached 6.91 thousand tons, standing out as the only transport mode to post growth, with an 18.3% increase from 5.84 thousand tons in Q2 2025.

Leading Commodities: Mineral products led all outbound shipments with 2.73 million tons (25.9% share), followed by prepared foodstuffs, beverages, and tobacco products at 2.25 million tons (21.2%), and vegetable products at 1.43 million tons (13.6%). Conversely, arms and ammunition recorded the lowest outflow at 37.13 tons.

Top Outflow Regions: CALABARZON (Region IV-A) topped the regional outflow volume with 2.72 million tons (25.8%), followed by the National Capital Region (NCR) at 1.70 million tons (16.1%) and Central Luzon (Region III) at 1.41 million tons (13.3%). Zamboanga Peninsula recorded the lowest regional outflow at 58.61 thousand tons (0.6%).

Top Favorable Balances: CALABARZON led with +720.26 thousand tons, followed by Central Luzon (+236.32 thousand tons) and the Negros Island Region (+225.90 thousand tons).
