Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to regulatory compliance and transparent governance, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) spearheaded the condemnation and proper disposal of 340 Air Waybills (AWBs) containing over 35.6 tons of abandoned and forfeited goods. The seized items carry an estimated aggregate value of ₱1.45 million.
The disposed cargoes, sourced from various international origins, comprised a wide array of regulated and prohibited items, including vape products, dysfunctional equipment, foodstuffs, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, and other general merchandise.
These shipments were subjected to formal condemnation proceedings due to direct violations of Republic Act No. 11900 (The Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act) and Republic Act No. 10863 (The Customs Modernization and Tariff Act), alongside other applicable customs laws and regulations.

Nepomuceno underscored the critical need to strengthen transparency and accountability across all customs operations, especially regarding the final disposition of government-forfeited assets. “This operation is a testament to our continuous pursuit of a lawful, transparent, and responsible customs administration. We remain steadfast in modernizing our processes while protecting public health and safety from unregulated goods,” stated BOC.
